This company needs a strong Design Engineer to assist in its growth.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the delivery of design for industrial & commercial battery & hybrid systems , including EV charging solutions for EV Forecourts.
- Prepare designs of Battery & Hybrid systems and EV Forecourts using AutoCAD for world-wide projects
- Assist with identifying technical solutions to meet the needs of our clients
- All technical solutions and designs must meet technical, electrical standards and CDM (where applicable) regulations.
- Ensure quality of design meets Company standards, including single line diagrams
- Able to provide project design, including equipment specification, bill of materials (BOM)
- Able to conduct electrical calculations, cable sizing and earthing calculations
- Able to trade efficiency, output, and costs to optimize system
- Assist with preparing and submitting DNO applications or similar local network operators internationally
- To prepare/amend planning application drawings as required
- Conduct site surveys to check project feasibility and take all relevant measurements and information in order to prepare the final ready to build designs
- Generate suite of engineering CAD drawings as required
- Able to research new technologies and provide improved project design, including equipment specification
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001)
Requirements
- Must have experience of working within a similar technical design role
- Experience of working in the renewable energy sector is highly desirable
- Degree or an equivalent level of qualification in Electrical or Mechanical engineering is essential
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of design regulations
- Must have previous experience in system design of domestic and /or commercial projects
- Experience in designing DC & AC (HV and LV) systems, understanding of electrical schematics, string configuration and layout drawings
- Must have experience of using AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D would be a plus) and PVsyst desirable
- Understanding of the different substructure options, requirements and limitations
- Ability to analyse and interpret data and perform performance review of working systems
- Working knowledge of PV system configurators and sizing methods including their specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability
- Knowledge of safety features, grounding, disconnects, system testing, and troubleshooting
- BS7671 17th & 18th edition qualification and ability to deliver designs and specify required equipment according to the regulations is highly desirable
- Working on heights certificate and IPAF training would be desirable
- Ability to interpret topographical drawings
- Ability to communicate and interpret needs effectively
- Attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills
- Advanced IT skills and be fully conversant with the Microsoft Office suite
