This client develops, constructs and operates power generation assets for the benefit of a financial group in order to reduce the cost of energy for their group of companies and to take advantage of merchant energy market opportunities. The company has a portfolio of operational hydro, biofuel and coal assets and is developing projects in the wind, biomass, hydro and Energy from Waste sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Structure, negotiate and manage the delivery of large-scale solar projects including:
  • Business case development
  • Contracting for Design, Planning and Grid connection
  • Contracting for EPC delivery
  • Managing contract delivery and local stakeholder relationships
  • Develop effective and positive working relationships with local site engineering and operational management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers and equipment suppliers in order to deliver cost effective, timely and high-quality projects
  • Work closely and effectively with other colleagues to deliver a combined asset finance and power offtake package attractive to investors
  • Lead and conclude transactions, manage project contract delivery working closely the Investor

Requirements

  • Experience of Solar PV (and possibly also Wind) renewable project development, funding and delivery in the renewable sector
  • Very good understanding of Solar PV development and technology
  • Confident, experienced contract negotiator and manager
  • Good knowledge of national electricity market(s), regulations and government/National Grid incentives for power/energy generation
  • Good knowledge of the investor sector and their requirements for asset/project investments in order to align their expectations and investment needs with their current/future projects
  • Strong analytical skills in order to support energy consumption analysis and business case development
  • Strong Excel, Powerpoint skills an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
  • A strong academic background, with a good degree preferably in engineering or another numerate discipline
  • Presentation and persuasion skills with the ability to deal confidently with senior management
