This well-known property Group is an investor, land owner, developer, manager and operator of a range of businesses and investments held either directly or indirectly through shares in private and public companies.

They have a long-standing vision founded on the conversion of natural assets into sustainable businesses or environments.

In response to significant changes in the energy policy landscape since 2015, they have redirected its development strategy towards adapting to a non-subsidy world for renewables alongside the changing requirements of the National Grid which requires a more flexible, decentralised energy model with flexible, distributed assets.

They develop;

  • Non-subsidy commercial scale wind and solar projects;
  • Behind-the-meter generation, focused principally on solar pv;
  • Grid Services Plants, primarily based upon gas engines;
  • District Heating Networks;
  • Battery Storage, both for the provision of grid balancing services but also co-located with on-site renewables;
  • Large scale gas powered generation to support greater deployment of renewables; and
  • Electric Vehicle Charging.

Responsibilities

  • Growth of the internal development pipeline through site origination and the identification of commercial opportunities.
  • Preparation and presentation of detailed feasibility assessments throughout the process to gain both client and board approvals to proceed.
  • Technical and environmental evaluation of new low carbon and flexible energy development opportunities, including the commercial viability and financial modelling of the projects
  • Promotion of the projects through scoping, EIA, planning application and where necessary planning appeal.
  • Management and maintenance of a diverse range of external and internal stakeholder relationships including public consultation as required.
  • Negotiation and finalisation of property agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, off-taker agreements, etc, to underpin development proposals.
  • Development of proposal documents, presentations and materials for customers and partners.
  • Management of internal and external resources to meet milestones and delivery of projects.
  • Key involvement in the procurement and construction phases of developments to deliver operational assets.

Requirements

  • Project Management skills and experience, with the ability to manage complex projects including the risks and uncertainty with external stakeholders.
  • Well-rounded demonstrable commercial management skills – including development and control of budgets, financial appraisals, project evaluation, contract negotiation and management and overall project management.
  • Knowledge of the technical, environmental and planning constraints surrounding the development of renewable energy, decentralised and flexible generation projects.
  • Ability to create and maintain financial models for a range of energy projects.
  • Organised, analytical and detail driven.
  • Strong written and presentation skills internally and with third parties.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
  • Proven experience in assessing the feasibility of projects and executing the planning and consenting process of commercial scale energy projects.
  • Project Management of complex projects in the energy field to cost and programme.
  • Experience of consultation with both internal and external stakeholders and in developing strong working relationships with key actors.
  • Preferred Qualifications Degree qualified as a minimum in an appropriate technical field/discipline.
  • Qualification from relevant professional institute.
  • Project Management accreditation.

Additional desirable skills.         

  • Experience of managing projects beyond the consenting phase through the procurement and construction phases of development.
  • An understanding of the routes to market for decentralised energy solutions, including revenue stacking, capacity market auctions and the energy and balancing markets.
  • Detailed knowledge of connecting projects to both private wires and publicly owned utilities including the negotiation of connection agreements.
