Input directly to shaping energy policy and investment models essential to achieving net-zero emissions. In this key role you’d be working together with a wide range of stakeholders to create the market framework for cross-sector decarbonisation through for example, hydrogen and carbon storage and at the same time ensuring a viable market for the technology needed to secure the energy transition.

Responsibilities

You will develop and make recommendations on policy positions, working with colleagues across the business to reach clear, consistent and evidence based positions relevant to the UK market and aligned with their strategy

You will directly represent the company’s position externally to a wide range of stakeholders including government officials, MPs, and industry bodies such as Energy UK

Working together within the Communication and Governmental Relations team, you will advise on lobbying strategies and engagement, and support senior managers by preparing briefs ahead of conference speaking slots and meetings with external stakeholders, including at ministerial level.

You will follow energy policy and relevant political developments, and promptly provide briefings for senior managers and across the business functions as necessary, co-ordinating analysis of the impact on the business

Responsible for timely drafts of consultation responses, ensuring all relevant internal stakeholders are briefed and consulted as necessary and approval is secured

Requirement

Politically astute, with the ability to develop effective lines of argument and communicate these convincingly, orally and in writing, to government, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders

Extensive knowledge and understanding of the commercial environment, regulatory and energy policy landscape relevant to the energy sector

Ability to interpret a wide range of complex issues and work together with others to factor in overall strategy and business goals in developing policy positions and consultation responses

Keen prioritisation and time management skills

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Desirable:

Experience of working in a fast paced environment

Experience of working at a professional level in a similar role in the UK e.g. government department, trade association, energy industry

Collaborative approach and networking skills
