Search – Tech completed their challenge for this quarter by doing a beach clean on one of the hottest days of the year so far! (someone’s gotta do it !) Friday, May 10th, 2024. They started their mission on Sandbanks Beach with the support and equipment from ‘Wimborne war on waste’ (WOW). WOW is a community group that seeks to raise awareness about the environmental impact of single use plastic through events, talks, displays, and workshops, they work closely with all stakeholders in their local area and are really striving to improve the local area for everyone, thank you to Sarah and her team for getting them started.
Search – Tech walked an impressive way up and down the sunny Bournemouth beaches collecting rubbish and litter throughout the whole afternoon. Bournemouth beach is renowned for the amount of rubbish that is left behind by the many visitors, so groups like WOW offer a much-needed service. The beaches on the South Coast of England are kept clean and it is in part thanks to local community groups and volunteers who have a passion to reduce waste and take pride in their local area.
Along the route Search-Tech had so many thank yous from the general public, the highlight being a young girl who ran 50 yards after us with her lolly wrapper. It was wonderful to see so many people with BBQ’s, walking their dogs and generally making the beach a fabulous community place.
A positive unintended consequence was that we all felt fantastic after spending the day doing something good a reminder that giving back, where you can, is good for all.
