- First point of contact for the operational sites to provide support and guidance on SHE related matters.
- Driving proactive SHE initiatives.
- Manage the site audit process/schedule (internal & external), including the ongoing retention of ISO certification.
- Manage two direct reports – Regional SHE Officers.
- Ensure the regular delivery of the company Safety Climate Survey and communication of results.
- Co-management of the SHE IT software systems and SHE training provision.
- Manage the occupational health provision for company staff.
- Undertake regular site visits to promote close relationships with site staff, one-to-one visibility of the SHE team and a collaborative approach to SHE.
- Lead the site on the subject of risk management and risk reduction.
- Lead communication with the site teams on SHE issues. Provide advice and guidance to site teams in response to SHE related queries.
- in order to support sites with meeting their obligations in relation to environmental permit.
- Support the sites with planning for and safe delivery of their annual outages. Attend sites during
- the outages to support the sites, provide a SHE presence, advise on and resolve SHE issues, conduct
- site inspections and review contractor paperwork through permit audits.
- Perform other duties and tasks as deemed appropriate in line with the role such as, but not limited
- to; the reviewing/rewriting of procedures (site or group level), carrying out risk assessments and
- delivering SHE related projects as required.
- Assist sites in ensuring their induction and other training material remains relevant and up to date.
- Take part in the authorisations process under the group Safe Systems of work.
- Provide SHE support and represent the SHE Team as required at the other group locations/assets.
- Day to day management of the SHE Team budget.
- Be a key contact for external parties/regulatory bodies, e.g. EA/HSE.
Skills, knowledge and experience (desirable)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a power generation facility or similar
- Comprehensive understanding of SHE systems within a power generation environment
- NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
- Environmental qualification such as IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities, IEMA, etc.
- Positive impact on SHE performance within previous roles
- Approachable, confident and a team player
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence people
- Ability to solve problems and think innovatively
- Competent IT user proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
