A well known regional waste and recycling business looking for a logistics manager in East Midlands/Humberside.
As they grow and join a larger group they require a manager to manage efficient planning/routing as well as optimum and efficient management of Transport Fleet.
Responsibilities
- Manage vehicle routes, delivery times and transport costs
- Coordinate and control the order cycle, ensuring that orders are prioritised correctly and processed on time
- To ensure customer expectations and transport efficiency targets are met on regular bases.
- Manage and resolve with customer delivery issues
- Safe management of drivers
- Optimise transport efficiencies.
- Proactively update and change schedules as required
- Monitor driver activity and productivity
- To extract and analyse daily/weekly performance reports, evaluating the performance and quality of both internal and third-party logistics suppliers
- Present findings to senior management and develop and implement plans for performance improvements
- Manage and improve office staff by creating KPI’s and improvement plans if required
- Develop business by analysing logistical problems and producing solutions
- Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures
- Understand and implement Company Health and Safety procedures
- Manage Planning Team and weighbridge function
- Supports the optimisation of resources and reviews the operations to support improve profitability and customer service
- Maintain adherence to the relevant legislative requirements and Company procedures and standards (including Health and Safety, personnel, finance and Transport)
- Conduct accident/incident investigations
- Ensure compliance with transport and environmental legislation
- Produce effective and detailed KPI’s for all delivery vehicles
- Using waste management software and ensure drivers comply with systems and requirements
- Prompt and effective resolution of customer queries, ensuring rectifications are put in place to prevent repeats / liaising with colleagues to achieve effective, timely resolutions
- Managing routing efficiency and utilising optimum disposal outlets where needed within the area to ensure effective use of vehicles and facilities
- Proactive vehicle management, including liaison with the transport compliance team, safe vehicle operations, wheel security, monitor vehicle gross weights
- Interrogation of vehicle / driver KPI reports and suitable action taken where issues identified
- Ensure a suitable debrief is completed with all drivers
- Ensure that any potential fails are advised to the business frequently through the day
- Supervise vehicle availability on a daily basis ensuring that drivers have completed their checks in accordance with company policy
- Contribute toward ongoing cost control, actively seeking to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs
- Ensure all administrative tasks associated with the transport office are completed, including time sheets, tachograph records, payroll records, holiday rotas
- Record and investigate fully all personal injuries and near misses. Promoting a safe working culture and environment at all times
- In conjunction with the health and safety department, ensures that mandatory training, induction and toolbox talks are delivered in line with company policy
You will need;
- Certificate of Professional Competence
- Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH/IOSH) Preferred
- Previous experience in a heavy industry logistics.
