We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced procurement lead to join a well established and still growing waste business. Our client is looking for a procurement leader to help build and develop a team and function around them whilst being very hands on in the role elevating themselves into a Head of level.
Core Tasks, Responsibilities & Duties
• Purchasing (consumables, office supplies, tooling, equipment, etc.)
• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with our clients goals and objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and manage business functions & associated professionals, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favourable terms and contracts to optimize costs and quality.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide effective solutions to meet those needs.
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and assess market trends to inform procurement decisions.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations, including ethical and sustainable sourcing practices with focus to managing modern slavery risks.
• Develop and maintain procurement metrics and performance indicators to monitor efficiency, cost savings, and supplier performance.
• Continuously review and improve procurement processes and systems to enhance efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness.
• Manage procurement budgets, forecasting expenditures, and implementing cost-saving initiatives where possible.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in procurement and supply chain management.
• Implement relevant processes / procedures to support prompt and forecasted payment of critical invoices / supplier agreements.
• To be point of contact towards the suppliers for the logistic aspects related to rejects (return shipments, credit invoices, replacement of rejected items, obtaining missing documentation, specifications, [calibration] certificates, ATRs, etc.).
• To, where applicable, provide input concerning the periodic supplier performance overviews.
Main Requirements & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience (5 years) in procurement management, preferably in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and sourcing strategies.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in procurement software and systems.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve goals and objectives.
• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance standards related to procurement and contract management.
