Our client is a leading renewable energy developer and asset management business, headquartered in London and focused on the UK and European market.
They are focused on the development, construction and operation of low-carbon energy projects and infrastructure having developed over £1 billion of assets across wind, solar, gas peaking power plants, BESS and low carbon capture.
Their team has a large pipeline of projects at various stages in the development process including 300MW of solar and battery projects, all of which will be constructed in the next two years.
They are looking to expand its existing team by hiring a Junior Asset Manager on a full-time, permanent basis at its office in London. The primary focus of the role will be to work as part of the asset management team, overseeing a wide range of renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the Financial and Technical Performance: Oversee a diverse portfolio focusing on Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), ensuring optimal financial and technical outcomes.
• Asset Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis: Identify and diagnose equipment faults via monitoring portals and troubleshoot as needed.
• Maintenance Management: Coordinate both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring high standards are met across all sites.
• Stakeholder and Contractor Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for key stakeholders and contractors, manage solar or BESS O&M contractors, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Client Communication: Report on asset performance to clients, respond to inquiries, and participate in meetings to discuss asset conditions and performance.
• Regulatory Compliance and Safety Management: Ensure all assets comply with HSE regulations, local planning requirements, grid connection agreements, and PPAs. Implement and adhere to safety rules and health safety management systems.
• Performance Optimisation: Conduct due diligence, feasibility analysis, and enhance asset management practices to improve performance. Perform site inspections to verify conditions and compliance with standards.
• Financial Management and Reporting: Develop and manage project budgets, prepare regular reports, and maintain necessary financial and management tools such as operating plans and asset registers.
Required Skills:
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong initiative, organised, and proactive in improving processes and outcomes.
• Proficient in Office 365, particularly Excel, with a strong ability to work independently and identify key insights.
• Proven track record in managing or working with operational renewable energy projects, including solar farms and BESS.
• Any experience in arbitrage trading with BESS or gas peakers preferred.
• Familiarity with remote monitoring systems and the ability to interpret mechanical/electrical engineering drawings and work instructions.
Required
• Degree in a relevant technical, financial, or business field.
• Minimum 1 – 3 years of experience in asset management, specifically with solar farms and/or BESS.
• Project or asset management experience with a strong background in contract and budget management.
