This client is recognised as a leader in the renewable energy market with unrivalled experience across the sustainable energy generation sector.
This person will be a member of Senior Management Team reporting to the executive team, you will be responsible for driving the SHE agenda and culture across the existing portfolio of owned and managed assets and its new build project.
In addition you will provide support to the due diligence processes for development and acquisition opportunities.
We are looking for a dedicated SHE professional and an individual with credibility, gravitas and enthusiasm in equal measure.
Your key interfaces will be the Board, CEO, Assett Managers, O&M providers, EPC contractor, regulators and shareholders. Your positive influence should extend to all operational staff.
Key skills and responsibilities
• Ability to drive the group SHE agenda and identify improvements
• Hold managers accountable for SHE performance
• Understanding and control of SHE risks relating to third parties – EPC contractors, and O&M contractors
• Client side oversight of major construction projects
• Monitor performance against permit requirements
• Liaise with environmental regulators as and when required
• Offer advice to ensure best practices are adopted and legal compliance adhered to
• Delivery against the corporate SHE objectives and targets (zero harm, zero non-conformances, zero breaches and effective reporting)
• Maintenance and continued development of:
SHE management systems
Auditing programmes
Training packages and behavioural safety initiatives
ISO14001 and ISO45001 accreditations
End of Waste/Quality protocols
Environmental Permits
Preparation of monthly board reports and regular SHE bulletins
Attendance at board meetings to present on SHE performance and action plans
• Development of appropriate ESG reporting and targets
• Provide guidance and on-going support on various ash protocols utilised by the group
• Line management of a small dedicated SHE team
The successful candidate will be approachable, confident, a team player and have the best interest of the group and the workforce at their core. You will be an effective communicator and a confident presenter, with excellent report writing skills.
Ideally you will be degree qualified and hold CMIOSH and IEMA qualifications, with a minimum 10 years’ experience in power generation operations and/or construction.
