This Energy company are currently recruiting for a Development Manager to join their growing team. This position will be a key part of the Development Team, originating and managing a large and growing portfolio of solar rooftop and C&I projects.
Backed by a global investor in energy and infrastructure assets, one of the UK’s largest owner/operator of flexible power with 900MW in operation and over 1GW in early pipeline.
The role will require taking ownership of the sales process and leading them through the development process, from the point of initial identification to being ready to build, with ongoing support during project construction and financing.
This position ideally requires 3 – 5 years of experience in the energy industry, with a good knowledge of solar and specifically the development process especially in design, commercial arrangements, and grid connections. The ability to multi-task and effectively manage competing priorities, whilst maintaining a keen eye on accuracy and detail are required, to deliver and contribute to the overall success.
Role
• The role will require input into the marketing and sales process, handling inbound leads, conducting site visits, analysing customer energy consumptions, delivering technological solutions and proposals,
• Building long-term relationships with new and existing customers
• Working with our in-house design team and software packages to design the ideal client and technology focused solution.
• Working with the connections team to ensure that grid applications are submitted, managed and accepted
• Assessing the customer requirements and provide the best technical proposal and deliver presentations
• Undertaking commercial modelling of opportunities to assess their viability and achieve key hurdle rates
• Preparing sales quotations ensuring adherence to business model rules and guidelines
• Liaise with the pre-construction and installation team to ensure customer expectations are met
• Generating and maintaining project schedules, risk registers, budgets and take projects through our internal project management process, which includes key milestone reviews and Project Information Document
• Using CRM software to maintain sales pipeline, track project stage and produce monthly reports
• Handing projects across to construction to build, own, operate and keep
• Travel will be required as part of the role, therefore own transport is essential with occasional overnight stays if necessary
Skills and Experience
• Proven experience as a Development Manager
• Proven track record working in energy, with a preference on solar experience
• Market knowledge and PPA's
• Communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to build rapport
• Time management and planning skills
• Capable of understanding technical concepts and explain effectively to customers
• Professional, ethical approach with a focus on the customer
• IT literate, particularly with Office 365 and CRM software e.g. Salesforce
