Plant Manager – Waste Processing
The Company
We are working on behalf of a leader within the waste and recycling sector who are continuously looking to build and develop their business. With ambition of competing at the very top our client is looking for a waste professional with experience overseeing all business functions within a waste processing facility.
The Role:
• Oversee daily operations for on-site material processing, recovery, and final disposal.
• Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all operational staff.
• Maintain health and safety compliance for all third-party visitors.
• Adhere to Environment Agency site permits.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures.
• Take an active leadership role in the on-site senior management team.
• Support recruitment, induction, and training of new employees.
• Facilitate training, development, and coaching for all staff.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all plant equipment and mobile machinery.
• Coordinate with colleagues to transport materials in compliance with offtake agreements and site permits.
• Deliver safety briefings, toolbox talks, and competency assessments to operations personnel.
• Lead and actively participate in the site SHEQ working group.
• Conduct performance reviews for all operational staff.
• Manage absence processes for operational personnel.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the facility.
• Participate actively in daily site planning and review meetings, as well as regional processing meetings.
• Maximize plant availability and material throughput while ensuring compliance with material output specifications.
• Maintain high-quality hygiene and housekeeping standards in welfare facilities.
• Manage all associated costs effectively.
• Provide written reports as required.
• Ensure sufficient work force is available to complete all operational shifts safely and compliantly.
• Effectively manage the absence and holiday process.
• Review and approve all payroll submissions.
