This client is an international sustainable energy business headquartered in the UK.

They develop, construct, own and operate premium solutions for renewable energy solutions. Their breaking boundaries to achieve their ambition to deliver sustainable energy and move the needle on climate change.

Role

We are looking for engineers who want to be part of a fast paced, highly focused engineering team to deliver key milestones. You will be part of a new revolution leading the charge in providing solutions using renewable clean energy. The role involves the delivery of design for Utility scale battery & PV hybrid systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare designs of solar PV and PV battery hybrid systems ™ using AutoCAD
  • Produce LV AC Designs, on Project Level at 3 phase level
  • Assist with identifying technical solutions to meet the needs of our clients
  • All technical solutions and designs must meet technical, electrical standards and CDM (where applicable) regulations.
  • Ensure quality of design meets Company standards, including single line diagrams
  • Able to provide project design, including equipment specification, bill of materials (BOM)
  • Able to conduct electrical calculations, cable sizing and earthing calculations
  • Able to trade efficiency, output, and costs to optimize system
  • Assist with preparing and submitting DNO applications or similar local network operators internationally
  • To provide support for local and international team members with commercial tenders and planning applications, support legal & project delivery teams, as required
  • To prepare/amend planning application drawings as required
  • Conduct site surveys to check project feasibility and take all relevant measurements and information in order to prepare the final ready to build designs
  • Generate suite of engineering CAD drawings as required
  • Able to research new technologies and provide improved project design, including equipment specification
  • Assist with monitoring system of the commissioned installations
  • Ensure good communication between the UK office and international colleagues in other offices
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001) systems.

Skills Required or desirable

  • An interest in working within a similar technical design role within the renewable energy sector
  • Degree or an equivalent level of qualification in Engineering or related discipline. Electrical Engineering degree is highly desirable
  • Any previous experience in system design of commercial Solar projects
  • Working knowledge and understanding of design regulations, electrical standards and CDM (where applicable) regulations
  • Experience in designing DC & AC (LV) systems, understanding of electrical schematics, string configuration and layout drawings
  • Must have experience of using AutoCAD and PVsyst
  • Desirable Understanding of the different PV substructure options, requirements and limitations
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and perform performance review of working systems
  • Any working knowledge of PV system configurators and sizing methods including their specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability
  • Knowledge of safety features, grounding, disconnects, system testing, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to interpret topographical drawings
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills and strong focus on accuracy of information
  • Advanced IT skills and be fully conversant with the Microsoft Office suite

  • Good organisational skills with ability to manage time effectively between multiple technically demanding projects
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to present complex technical results in a clear and concise manner
  • Hands-on approach, flexible and positive attitude
  • Understanding of LV/HV Distribution Design and Protection Coordination
  • Working knowledge of battery energy storage solutions (BESS), Energy Storage solutions (ESS) and EV charging
  • BS7671 17th & 18th edition qualification and ability to deliver designs and specify required equipment according to the regulations
