This Renewable Energy company are part of a large Investment group, specialising in the origination, development and management of commercial solar systems and portfolios on behalf of institutional investors.

The team has a wealth of experience in making clean, green electricity available to businesses and other institutions at a lower cost than they pay for traditional energy.

 

Role and Responsibilities

 

The role of the Commercial Director is to take responsibility for successful development of business for the company ensuring that it meets it’s targets for capital deployment and thus revenue.

Reporting into the CEO and being part of the Senior Management Team; they will have a significant influence on the success of the business and be critical cog in the wheel of the operational running of the company.

 

• The Commercial Director will initially manage a team of around 6 people: including 2/3 BDM’s and a Client Engagement Manager and 2 client engagement executives.

• Initially the CD will carry a personal quota and target, but this will be reviewed as we grow and will not impact earnings potential

• Over time it is intended that the Commercial Director will also manage the marketing function, which will comprise a Marketing Manager/Executive

• Take responsibility for the guidance, coaching and mentoring or the team.

• Ensure that all materials are appropriate for the task in respect of client presentations, proposals

• Work on direct leads and opportunities as appropriate

• Take responsibility for key bids and tenders

• Make proactive sales calls, visits (when safe to do so), build relationships and other business development activities

• Meet or exceed team sales targets as set on a quarterly and annual basis

• Develop and nurture relationships with existing partners in a way that adds value to their and our business

• Use information and feedback from the customer base to positively influence the development of our products to further our sales

• Provide feedback via the reporting mechanisms as defined and when requested

• Maintain and ensure the team also maintain ongoing accurate records on CRM and

• other reporting tools as requested thus supporting the business in future planning, this includes but is not limited to;

· Logging accurate details of all sales opportunities

· Keeping opportunities up to date in respect of those details

· Provide accurate forecasts as per tools and requests provided

• Lead, direct and ensure positive outcomes from sales and marketing meetings and other meetings as deemed necessary by the business

• Lead and effectively manage all sales opportunity review processes with a view to increasing the chances of winning deals

• Work within the best interests of the business.

• Work within and actively positively contribute to the Senior Management Team

A successful candidate will have the following experience and capabilities:

· Demonstrable track record of sales achievement in renewable energy and/or finance sectors, by sales achievement we mean consistently meeting targets and quotas

· Demonstrable track record of leading a team.

· Detailed understanding of the sales process, in a none-salesy, engaging way with excellent qualification skills

· Structured sales and management training a preference

· Highly developed communication skills

· Reliable and trustworthy with high levels of personal and professional integrity

· Initiative, energy and imagination to effectively and proactively sell to sophisticated buyers

· Inspiring and decisive leader with the right level of empathy and directness.

· The ability to understand our customers’ business needs and articulate our approach

· An appreciation of renewable energy and how it helps businesses save money and reduce carbon emissions

· A consultative approach, with the ability to listen to and influence others to support objectives

· An ability to form strong, mutually beneficial business relationships

· Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

· Confident with IT, specifically the Microsoft Office suite and CRM systems
