Commercial Manager – Renewable Energy Connections  Bristol – £80,000 + bonus

This is an exciting opportunity with a market leading ICP who specialise in turnkey projects for solar energy and battery storage projects (BESS). The company is very well established and growing rapidly to deliver a large pipeline of projects.

We are looking for a high calibre commercial professional who will be responsible for new business contract negotiation, commercial risk management, financial and commercial management and reporting.

The Commercial Manager reports directly to the Head of Commercial.

 

Responsibilities

  • Pre contract agreements and LOI’s
  • Commercial negotiation of contracts
  • Project positive cashflow and milestone creation
  • Project risk register creation and management
  • Review of employers requirements and distribution of DOR for employers requirements
  • Completion of project handovers following contract signing
  • Commercial drafting and approval of subcontracts
  • Financial management of projects
  • Project cashflow management
  • Substantial PO approval
  • Review and approval of contract variations
  • Negotiating and agreeing terms and conditions with the supply chain
  • Manage external parties like public authorities, grid operator and others commercially
  • Contributing to new business bids
  • Reviewing and developing commercial process flows with an emphasis on IT
  • Management of business overhead commercial agreements (property, insurance etc.)
  • Directing all commercial operational activities across the organisation
  • Mentoring members inside and outside of your team to help the business needs
  • Looks for opportunities to develop the business commercially
  • Attending and reporting monthly to the board on Commercial activities towards business goals
  • Implementing and updating the company values
  • All aspects of day-to-day management of the commercial team
  • Defining performance management and staff KPI’s to monitor operational success against objectives and promotions
  • Developing leadership and coaching programmes to increase employee effectiveness
  • Monthly sales and commercial meetings (incorporating the battleplan meeting and credit and debtor meeting)
  • Bi-monthly Managing Director Commercial meeting (include legal team on one of these per month)
  • Weekly Legal workflow meeting
  • Monthly senior management and board team meetings
  • Maintaining the business cashflow forecast in conjunction with the sales, finance and managing directors
  • Training and coaching employees on managing contracts
  • The completion of Pre-qualification questionnaire commercial sections

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ Experience working as a Commercial Manager for grid connections
  • Can demonstrate working and interfacing with clients and key stakeholders on a project
  • Excellent communication skills as well as strong management skills
  • Good track record of contract management
  • Strong understanding of budget and cashflow management
  • Strong Understanding of business finances (P&L, Balance Sheet)
  • Highly organised with an ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and think outside the box
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build rapport with ease
  • Professional demeanour and presentation
  • Self-motivated, driven and goal orientated
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Programming Software)
  • Excellent attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Team player attitude
  • Desirable: MBA; IoD and Finance Management courses
