This pioneering Developer, Owner and Operator is in are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Delivery Manager to join a growing development team and become part of the largest battery storage, flexible generation and energy solutions provider with continued ambition for growth.

This position will be a key part of the development team managing a large and growing portfolio of projects across a range of technologies. This could be, battery storage, solar, grid stability schemes and hydrogen projects.

They have a combined installed capacity of 700 MW across nearly 50 sites with over 130 experts dedicated to supporting critical national infrastructure and the UK’s energy transition to a low-carbon economy.

A full-service Independent Power Producer (IPP), they are focused on meeting the growing demand for balancing services in the UK electricity market through the development, construction and ownership of flexible generation plants and battery storage systems. An enthusiastic and motivated Delivery Manager to join our growing development team and become part of the largest battery storage, flexible generation and energy solutions provider with continued ambition for growth. This position will be a key part of the development team, supporting the delivery of a large and growing portfolio of projects across a range of technologies. This could be, battery storage, solar, grid stability schemes and hydrogen projects.

The role will require taking ownership of projects to ensure they are ‘shovel ready’, with ongoing support during project construction and financing.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the delivery of projects through the internal stage gate process and preparing papers for board approval, working with Development Managers and other stakeholders
  • Undertake due diligence on projects evaluating or looking to acquire
  • Any projects that are acquired, take them through the final stages to get them ‘shovel ready’ and enter construction
  • Undertake commercial modelling of opportunities to assess their viability and achieve key hurdle rates
  • Lead the financing and technical diligence of projects with our funders and third party technical advisors
  • Direct the preparation, submission and management of planning applications and associated discharge of planning conditions, managing third-party consultants
  • Lead on the negotiation of property agreements to put in place heads of terms, options and leases
  • Work with our connections team to maintain secured connections and at the appropriate stage progress them further subject to Gate approvals
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders that are involved in our projects
  • Generate and maintain project schedules, risk registers, budgets and take projects through our internal project management process, which includes key milestone reviews and Project Information Document
  • Involvement in workshops, industry forums and working groups as required
  • Work with our in-house GIS and design team to review and optimise workstreams

Education and Experience

  •  Ideally at least 3 – 5 years of experience within the energy industry
  • Experience in all phases of project development, with specific experience in planning, land agreements, connections and financing
  • Commercial management skills are essential to undertake financial modelling and assess the commercial viability of projects
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential
  • Probably degree educated in a relevant subject, although other qualifications will be considered based on experience
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships and work as part of a team
  • Highly organised and able to work within a fast-paced environment and react proactively to workflows
  • Take ownership and drive tasks through to completion
  • Adaptable and pragmatic, with the ability to quickly understand key issues and ensure resolution for the successful delivery of projects
  • Travel will be required as part of the role, therefore own transport is essential with occasional overnight stays if necessary
