Responsibilities

The Development Engineer assist the engineering development team assigned to each bid working closely with the Business Development Manager(s) and be responsible for specific duties as follows:

  • Bid Development:
  • Lead the identification of Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) at potential customer sites
  • Organise and carry out energy audits and surveys
  • Prepare/check preliminary capital cost and energy savings models for each ECM
  • Prepare/check the technical write up for inclusion in bid submission
  • Provide guidance and training for engineers in the development team
  • Attend regular client project meetings
  • Identify new and innovative technologies and solutions
  • Present technical solutions at bid meetings
  • High Level Appraisals:
  • Lead, organise and conduct High Level Appraisals at customer sites
  • Assessment of existing system configuration and operation at client sites.
  • Compilation and analysis of data
  • Conceptual design of energy related projects
  • Preliminary constructability assessment and project risk assessment
  • Prepare capital and operating cost budgets
  • Detailed energy savings calculations
  • Preparation of final reports and presentation
  • Ensure all deliverables are completed on time and comply with bid criteria
  • Finalise solution selection
  • Develop savings calculations and pricing to for project capital approval

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2:1 engineering degree preferably in chemical, mechanical or electrical.
  • Achieved Chartered Engineer status.
  • Minimum of 3yrs+ experience of energy efficiency work for an Energy Services Business.
  • Any experience working on UK Public Sector Tender Frameworks e.g. ReFiT, Essentia, CEF, SNDEE.
  • Experience of development and training of graduate engineers.
  • Commercially aware with experience of negotiating with equipment suppliers and installation contractors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling tools.
