The UK is a core growth area for them, and they have a unique opportunity for a passionate, innovative and experienced Head of Wind Development specialising in wind development and co-development to join their growing UK team and to help shape and accelerate their journey to delivering our goals.
Role
Our client is looking for a senior renewable energy developer specialized in Wind developments, to build up and lead a team in the UK for the creation of a multi-GW pipeline of renewables business, via organic growth and via partnerships and M&A.
- Build up and lead the regional wind development within the UK and Ireland, from greenfield to readyto-build (RTB) and supporting until commercial operation.
- Cover the full development cycle from origination to RTB or financial close stage
- Manage relationships with landowners, permitting authorities, grid operators, regulators, offtakes and other relevant stakeholders
- Liaise with existing business teams (asset teams, trading / PPAs, finance, others) and enabling functions
- Supporting role in M&A processes (assessing market environment/pipeline quality)
- Establish strategic codevelopment partnerships to accelerate pipeline growth
- Manage external contract developers
- Monitoring and interpreting technical and relevant regulatory developments and standards and to be able to deliver technical and nontechnical reports to stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with the development team, consisting of developers, engineers, project, contract- and offtake managers as well as a network of external development partners
You
- Degree in renewable energy, business and commerce, environmental management, planning, engineering, or comparable studies
- Extensive professional experience with delivering wind farm developments
- Utilising an extensive network of industry and developer contacts to forge development partnerships and joint ventures
- Profound understanding of relevant market dynamics and trends
- Experience in undertaking detailed due diligence of projects from a technology and commercial perspective
- Understanding of the technical properties of renewable energy systems
- Understanding of the commercial requirements for renewable energy projects
- Demonstrable knowledge of the UK network issues constraints, policies, and ability to analyse grid connection issues to enable targeted site selection
- Understanding of financial models
- Excellent communication skills in an international environment and the ability to influence effectively at all levels
- Willingness to travel
Desirable:
- Experience in other renewable technologies such as solar, hydrogen, BESS or hydro;
- Understand and be able to use wind farm design software;
- Able to converse in another European language.
